Feb 1, 2012. My shipment of Valentines vase etc. have finally arrived.   Only one broken item.  Impressive.  It has been several weeks since I placed the order, but, shipment wasn't until today.  I had forgotten some of the items I order.  Wow. Bling.  I purchased one only, of an arm bling for your grad corsage.  It's so lovely.... I'd like to figure out how I could use it in another way.  Since my grad was in the '80's.  Yikes.  So, if your grad dress has rinestones, or needs some rinestones.... this is the piece for you!  I only bought ONE, yours will be the only one.... from my flowershop, anyways, I can't say if someone orders from a different store. This piece is long, it starts as a ring, and runs along your forearm to approx. your biceps, its sparkle "ee".  I will not put this one  on the website, so, call ahead to reserve it as yours......

Oh, ya, the Valentines teddy's are here as well.  This year we have two sizes of white teddy bears sporting red ribbons with white hearts. Quantities of these items are limited as well.  Sorry, but, if I sell out early...there is always the standard bears ( not Valentines, but, we can change the ribbon to one) and warm buddies available.

 

Jan. 24, 2012. It seems to be happening more than twice weekly..... someone thinks they have placed an online order with Lake Country Flowers.... but, no....another look alike.... claiming to have your flowers delivered to "Winfield" or "Lake Country", or "Oyama", by a local florist.  Sometimes the order gets through to me., minus a few fees (from the look alike florist, and our affiliate.),quite often... the order is re-directed to Kelowna, or Vernon, ( always, minus those same as previous fees.).   It was brought to my attention earlier this week. A nice young lady was in the flowershop to pick up her gift, and told me.... her husband boosted....to his wife, "that he had ordered from the local florist, because I have a LOCAL phone number.  Many florist have 1-800 numbers, but, they will also have a local phone number listed for their local customers.

Thanks, that makes the best sense.

 Many of the online flowershops, ( most of which don't even employee a florist ) are re-routing your order, and don't want to actually be contacted by anyone. Of course, any true working florist makes any way possible for their customers to place their order.   If you're not sure you have Lake Country Flowers.... and my Lake Country Flowers shopping cart... you may be disappointed.  We do not accept any re-routed orders during the holiday seasons. (Christmas, Valentines Day, Mother's Day).  If you place a Valentines order with these companies, my system gets suspended, and your order may sit for days.  Then, they offer a discount to you, and re-rout it to this flowershop, when my system reboots on Feb. 20.  YIKES.  Just an honest warning.

Jan 12, 2012.So, someone did internet research???? and.... he says, the stems of rainbow roses are split during growth, and colour water is injected.  I WANT A BUSH!!!, anyways... with this in mind.... I would strongly suspect... that these stunners will have a shorter vase life, than my usual roses.  But, I treat my flowers well, and my roses do last.  I would like to advise, and this is yet to be confirmed.... Rainbow roses are the princess' of the bunch.....it's all about the look and impact.  Impact is for sure!! Soon I'll get the pricing for the rainbows together.  Rainbow roses will not be purchasable from my website.... I need to keep tight control of the stock.... I would hate to have them sold.... out the door, and then have to disappoint a internet shopper, to say sold.  IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO PURCHASE OUR RAINBOW ROSES.... PLEASE CALL AHEAD.... SUPPLY IS LIMITED TO 2 DOZEN....Sorry, but, they are costly.... and I'm not sure how they will sell.... I'm sure, TODAY,I could order some more if needed.  But, that's not the plan.  Just so you know.

Jan 9, 2012  This post is mostly a test.... for me.... and the computer.  I have, ( no sorry, Jim has,) almost completed all the transferring of files, now for my turn, to work on the website. 

My wholesalers have requested the Valentines prebook.... by tomorrow.  Be assured, we placed the Lake Country Flowers order for Equadorian Freedom roses, well before the due date. This will ensure first picking from the farms selection.

In order to fill more of your requests and orders, things will be oh so slightly different this Valentines.  This season we will offer a few different selections to our previous years.  At Lake Country Flowers we strive to offer the best of quality and value, and at a reasonable price. My pricing is fair, quality is excellent and includes free local delivery.( V4V postal codes only). 

I encourage my customers to have their floral gifts arranged in foam or a vase. Our florist designed gifts are a testiment to your effort.  We do not sell grocery store bouquets..... but, although and sometimes...... we get over whelmed with your buy local support.

This year as always, we will have the highest of quality of roses.  They will have large deep passion red flowers and longer than long stems.  I will not reduce our quality in order to keep your costs down. Last year the three of us ran our butts off, and trimmed a little fat off of our spouses as well.( Actually this could be just about perfect.... come to think of it).

 Anyways,... we have always sold the quality roses, but, almost insisted that they be arranged in a vase... to have that professional touch. 

Being that we are running at more than full speed that week.... we will offer for sale..... boxed roses, and wrapped bouquets.... for the first time.   I have order lots of bling and classy touches, as well as common and plenty of uncommon foliages to make your dozen long stemmed roses the best and most interesting boxed roses in town!! Ha Ha ... Carol will to do your order up right, even without the vase...

.Jan 6, 2012. The Christmas blur ( or whirr) has settled now, and I have finally uncovered the floor from all the trimmings, greenery and sparkle. Thanks to your continued support.... we now have a lovely sony point and shoot cyber shot.  I've dropped it once, photographed my leg once, but, will soon print the manual, and get back to business. Hopefully this will make my customers favourite part of my business, less of a chore for me.  I am a florist, and do not aspire to become a photographer.  I have some 1st birthday party pics.  that I could share.... but, I must check, and get approvals from Mom first.

Soon... Valentines and another granddaughters birthday.... Happy Birthday Payton.  We MISS YOU, and Mom and Dad too.... but, mostly... your sense of humour you little pretty!

Dec 15, 2011.The title of this page is "What's New" , nothing new here with the camera.... broken again.  I have run out of some of the containers that I have photos for, and are posted on the shopping cart page.  I still have plenty of Christmas type containers, but, no ability to get a digital picture.  I have added some blank ( no picture ) items in the Christmas section.  The value is what you will be choosing.  If you have shopped here previously, you will have confidence to let me be creative to your value.  If you haven't check the flowershopnetwork.com and review my comments.  This is not a very professional way of internet sales, but, for this season.... it's going to have to work.  Sorry!  If Christmas sales are good, boxing day may bring the flower lady a point and shoot digital camera. Nov 3, 2011. Finally, after four years..... Custom Printed ribbons!!!  These classy gold embossed ribbons are much better suited to honour our loved ones.... no more peel and stick, stapled on or stencilled letters.... our ribbons are available in four colours and a multitude of fonts etc. With some practice, I can include your company logo if needed. 

Think about a baby pink (or baby blue) banner with your infants name and birthdate on it.  A keepsake for sure.

I will attach a photo of our samples as soon as my camera is repaired.  It's always something with this e-photo business. 

If you have not received your e-photo in the last few days.... sorry, I have more issues with the camera card reader.  I'm going to try a differeent method of transferring the photos.  I shouldn't have a constant need to replace my card reader.  We have purchased inexpensive units, and most recently a high buck one.... as careful as I have been, boom, two bend pins.... I've concluded that I have to do it differently. Please look forward to our e-photo service returning shortly. 

 

Sept 26, 2011.  Last weeks free rose giveaway was a whopping success. It was lovely to hear customers saying " oh yes, I know you're up there on Bond Rd."  Our hidden location is finally public knowledge. Business should be increasing more and more. 

We will have a business phone line (same number as always, 250 766 4257), as of Thurs. Sept 29, 2011.  Your relatives and out of town shoppers will now be able to find us through directory assistance, or 411.ca and next spring.... a yellow page listing!!!

Aug 31, 2011.This years roses for Sept 22 nds. "Fall in love with Flowers" event have been ordered from our grower in Equador....This years order includes some varigated varieties as well as the reds and solid colours. Be sure to watch the area for our delivery wagon and the Lake Country Flowers ladies to be sure to get your two free roses. Or, on the morning of the 22nd..... stop by the flowershop and pick yours up.... we welcome shoppers in the store Mon. - Sat. 9-1.

July 27, 2011.  Computer issues seem to keep poping up.... my card reader has a bent pin ( don't ask me how that happened). Thus, I am unable to view my photographs, or send courtesy e-photos. Daily specials are still available, but, I'm unable to post the picture on my website.  Please ask when you call about todays special.

I have been made aware.... sometimes customers are having difficulty making online purchases. To see the items available for purchase, you must go to the shopping cart.  From my homepage, on the left you will see a list of categories, choose shopping cart.... near the top of the list.  From there, it will lead you to the different categories... birthday, sympathy etc.  After that, it's your choice.  Also, the receipt the cubecart sends my customer usually, but, not always???? shows the purchasers address, as the address for delivery. This is clear to me, most of the time, I only deliver within the Lake Country/Kelowna area.  Please feel free to send an email to info@lakecountryflowers.com and clarify the correct address. April 18, 2011.Mother's Day flowers have been pre-ordered. We are expecting a box lot delivery of hydrangeas, roses and calla lilies as well as the usuals carnations, daisies lilies and more.  Don't be disappointed, order Mom's gift early.

This year we will be increasing our supply of planted dishgardens and gift baskets.  Be sure to call in your flower orders before the Fri. before Mother's day (May 6,) to insure your order can be filled and delivered on Sat.  Late orders will likely have a slim variety of dishgardens or gift baskets to choose from.

We will not be doing deliveries on May 8,2011.( Sun, Mother's Day) in order for my helpers ( Julie and Carol (my Mom ) to enjoy their days.

April 4, 2011.Spring has sprung.  Usually towards the end of Mar, we remove the last chunk of ice from our little pond.  This year.... both ponds are open water, fish are active, stream is running, and ther is life in the Magnolia tree. 

We had a great success with our ponds last year.... a chemical free year...it must have been great for the fish.... because this year we have several more than we can sustain properly for a good balance.

If you would like to share our wealth of fish..... we have some to give..... please give us some advanced notice, and we can have some ready for you to pick up Mon.-Sat. 9-1.00pm. Just a small perk for being a Lake Country Flowers website visitor.

 

Mar 30, 2011.Days are going by quickly, and Mother's Day preparations are well underway.... be sure to get your choice of the premium flowers we will be prebooking for the great event. Last year was a sell-out, and I will be optimistic about this year as well. 

Feb 2011.  I came across a page with Valentines Verses.  I see how people struggle to find just the right expression to convey on their floral enclosure cards. I thought I could get the ideas rolling, by copying them on my website for all to see.

1)I love you, today, and everyday.

2)  I love being loved by you.

3)  I draw a circle, not a heart, around you.  The one I love, because a heart can break, but, a circle goes on forever.

4)  Happiness is being married to my best friend. 

5)  It takes more than lace and ribbons and lovely verses too, to make a valentine that's nice enough for you.  It takes a world of special thoughts tucked into every line.

Some of these phrases are kind of corny, but, she if you can't make it your own.  I bet she loves the effort you maketo create something so personalized.

Jan. 10, 2011.  Things are getting back to normal in the flowershop, just in time for the Feb. holiday. VALENTINES DAY is only a month away.  I've been hearing rumours that rose growers are having a hard time financially, but, who isn't ...  I have had to pre-book my roses already to insure the usual top quality roses from our usual Equadorian grower.  I do not for- see any supply issues for Lake Country Flowers.  It is alway difficult to judge how many customers will order from one year to another. 

This year Lake Country Flowers will be offering a pageant wrapped bouquet, as well as a dozen roses arranged in a red glass vase, and our usual romance package..... which includes candles, chocolates, a mylar balloon, and an upgraded vase with 12 long stemmed red freedom roses, premium foliages and quality Valentines touches.

Lake Country Flowers will also have a large selection of mixed bouquets and interesting arrangements, as always.

Valentines is on a Monday this year, so please consider ordering now, ( or at least the week before.) to ensure your Valentine gets their gift on the first round of deliveries on Mon. morning.  That way you can be the hero all day long. 

 

 

Dec 23, 2010.  This is our last day for free local delivery.  After this evening, orders may be placed, but, delivery will be done by a courier.  This allows us to run the shop with minimal staff, and allow the best of family time for us all.  Thank you for such a successful 2010.  Merry Christmas to all our customers .

Christmas is near, and it's busy at the flowershop.  Thank you!!! This afternoons job is to update the vase section on my shopping cart page. 

I would like to suggest, that this may be the year to give a gift of an interesting vase.  Perhaps one of those vases that stays out even when there are no flowers in it. It's an artpiece of its own.  I have many hidden pieces, that unless I put them on my website.... How would anyone know. 

When you choose a vase from the shopping cart, you will be given an option to choose the dollar amount of flowers you would like to include in your vase, or we will just package, wrap, decorate and deliver your gift.

Merry Christmas everyone... chances are it won't be me ( Suzanne)  doing the deliveries over the next few weeks.  I hope we all have a safe and happy holiday season.

It's been a relatively slow day in the flowershop, ( thank goodness, once in a while.)  Anyways, I've now had time to photograph and update the green and flowering plant section of the shopping cart.  The new light tent set-up seems to be working better for me. Enjoy the new pic.s.

What a fun fall in love with flowers event yesterday.  The weather was beautiful, and the flowers were as well.

Most people were looking for the "catch", but, there really isn't one.  It's just fun to give back once and a while, and this is my way of giving back.  Maybe you were one of the people that we gave the two roses to, or maybe you were the lucky recipient of one of their give away roses.  If neither apply to you..... look for us again next year, because I'm sure we will do it again.

On a different note, the driveway project continues next week, with prep work on Tues, and paving on Wed.  Be sure to take advantage of our online shopping cart and our free local delivery.  Could be a little noisy and smelly around here.  The end is in sight.... just a few more items on my wishlist, and our transformation will be complete.

Sept 23. 2010.  The stairs are back in position at the flowershop.  The driveway.... well, that needs to dry out, and be re-surfaced with crush before we can drive on it again.  Please bare with us, it will be lovely.... when....soon.

I've been working on a new idea.  I would like Lake Country Flowers to help our friends and neighbours show appreciation for a job well done. Once a month I would like to deliver an unexpected, ( that's always more fun) but, lovely vase arrangement to one of us locals. We hear daily about all the troubles and crime.  I think too many hardworking caring people do so from the goodness of their hearts.  Whether they hold open the door for someone else with their arms full, return a lost dog, or show up week after week at a volunteer position. We all know someone that never quits.

Sept 7. 2010.  Busy Busy Busy..... not just me, but, the whole neighbourhood is busy.  Cars were doing there usual zoom by to Davidson Rd. school this morning.  Some of may have noticed THE MESS in my front yard.  I do have to thank Jim, Josh and Jeremy for getting it this far.....more to come.... not more mess, more projects.  Actually, this is more towards the end of my list.  Sorry for the mess., it's always worse before it gets better.  It will be beautiful, I'm certain of that.

Aug 17, 2010.  Lake Country Flowers delivery wagon is now an authorized Lake Country Food Bank pick up wagon!  After speaking with the tireless Phyllis, we agreed that while I'm driving around Lake Country..... I may as well be a vehicle to assist the local Food Bank.  Now, when you get a delivery phone call, you can gather your donations, and I will gladly pick them up at the same time.

I see this as a win win for everyone.

You can also drop off a donation for the food bank Mon.-Sat. 9.00am-1.00 pm at the flowershop, and I will be sure your donation gets to the food bank to share with our friends and neighbours.

Aug 4, 2010.  Watch for our Fall in Love with flowers event..... coming again this Sept.  Be sure to find the Lake Country Flowers delivery wagon, and pick up your free roses. Again this year, we will be offering two roses to each lucky recipient.  The idea being.... keep one rose for yourself, and give one away to someone else, thus, spreading the love of flowers.  Keep an eye out for this years date. 

May 25, 2010.  Thank goodness for  holiday weekends.  I am finally feeling rested from the Mother's day rush.  Now on to grad.  I am in the last stages of my grad questionnaire.  Hopefully this procedure will make a more personalized corsage/bout creation.  I will only be taking a small percentage of the grad work available this year.... so let's make the ones I do create something special.  Have you considered the hottest thing..... body flowers... arm corsages, anklets, chokers and hairpieces are just the start.  Stop by the flowershop 9.00am-1.00pm, and fill out the questionnaire, let's get this process started.

I will have to prebook flower orders next week... so, if you have a specific flower in mind, be sure to get in before the end of this week.  Orders can still be filled after next week, but, I will have to use the flowers on hand to create your corsage/bout.

May 3, 2010. Orders are rolling in for Mother's Day.  In order to make room for my helpers and extra stock, I have had to take apart my light tent.  This means no courtesy e-photoes are available until after May 10, 2010.  Sorry if this disappoints you, I realize it is a large part of my service.

With spring break ending soon and the oympics over.......my desk is on to graduation.  I just received the nicest catologue, some items are available here in Canada.  If you are the couple out to do it up right, don't forget about your flowers. Have you considered a jewelled necklace adorned with flowers... perhaps a jewelled spray in a lovely shapable hairpiece. I'm seeing body flowers are bigger than ever this year. 

Once you've chosen your dress, it's not too early to order. Let's create the perfect accent piece - and one for your date. 

Many couple come in together. Bring in your photo's, fabric swatches, jewellery samples anything that may start the process.

Last night it was man against machine, and thankfully, man won.  We now have our Fiorella Ribbon Printer up and running.  Samples are available in the flowershop.  Consider adding this personal touch to your birthday or I love you bouquets.  Banners are not for prom queens and funerals anymore.

February 4, 2010. Battery issues only allowed my to take one photo of the Valentines containers.  I'm taking that as a sign..... I'm done for today.... it's 5.00pm. ha ha.  I'll try again tomorrow.  I can't wait to show the keepsake vases, and bling to go with them. 

Valentines containers, vases and accents are here.  Valentines is on a Sunday this year, be sure to order early to guarantee a before Valentines delivery.( Friday or Saturday),   Monday, just won't be the same. Don't risk the embarassment of no flowers for your Valentines sweetheart. Of course there is always the grocery store.... not quite the same as a professionally designed creation.

Jan 23, 2010. I have posted some of our Valentines arrangements on the shopping cart.  As you may notice, prices are higher this year than those in the recent past Valentines. I have tried to include some more reasonably priced options, but, my most helpful suggestion may be this one:  Is this the year you choose to purchase a keepsake vase, and remember this year for many more to come.  Lake Country Flowers has many unique vases and containers in stock.  I suggest you choose one of these more memorable gift vases, and and perhaps a Warm Buddy teddybear for your loved one.  Check our added touches category on the shopping cart page.

Jan 15, 2010.  Ok, so, a little miss information in my last post... the frost is in Columbia.  I much prefer the Equadorian roses, so, we may just be lucky enough to get the usual high quality roses that I carry. More news as it comes in.

Jan 11, 2010. I know this sounds like a marketing tactic, but, it is not.  I have pre-ordered my Valentines roses, as usual.  This year brings a warning of low supply..... they have been getting frost in Equador.  I have been told, that roses may be short shipped this year.  To avoid any major catastrophe I have ordered from two separate suppliers, and have my fingers crossed as well.  To ensure your loved one gets her Valentines roses, I would suggest an early order date.  As always, roses are first come first served.

 

Dec 24, 2009. The flowers are resting, and soon will be I.  Merry Christmas to all my friends, family and customers.  May we all have a healthy and happy new year as well.  Now..... it's family time. Bring on the grandbaby.  Love to all.

This past Sat.  Elisabeth and I joined the Lions Club at the Lake Country Christmas Light up.  Although the winds were cold and nasty.... the fire and hot chocolate that the Lions club provided made it work.  Here's is a picture of Lake Country Flowers Christmas elves.

It's been a busy day in the flowershop.  Thanks for the help from Gail.... all went smoothly, and some of the giftbaskets have been photographed and posted on the shopping cart.  Most baskets are one only, so, if one looks just right for someone on your Christmas list, I would grab it now.  Just a suggestion.

Great deal on Christmas ribbon at Lake Country Flowers.  We bought a case of 1 1/2" wired Christmas ribbon..... I don't anticipate needing all 36 rolls, so.... we are sharing the savings with our customers.  If you've priced ribbon at various stores, you will know that this is a great deal.  Check the length of ribbon included on the roll.  Our rolls are 10 yds, that's about twice the usual retail length.  Yours for $5.00 /roll.  Limited quantities.

In September Jim and I attended the Vancouver gift show.  It was a full and busy day, once you figure in our trip to Ikea.  We met several vendors, and fell in love with a few interesting items.  Arriving soon........"Warm Buddy"products.  Looking for a Christmas gift that not only warms the heart, but, the gift is warm as well.  Everyone has someone on their list that would love one of these lovely Warm Buddy's. I especially loved the soft fabric that these items are created with.  We will be carrying a small supply of Warm Buddy teddy bears, dogs, sheep,leopards, baby blankets  warming mittens and best of all robes. Most of the Warm Buddy products have a reheatable,(or chillable) microwave able insert.  I know that my Grandaughter,( she can't read) is getting one for sure! 

Unfortunatly darling, no hippopotomus' this year.  But, I hope these little warm buddy's are great replacements.

Warm Buddy's slogan is "Everybody needs a warm buddy!" I agree.

Christmas stock is arriving weekly.  The flowershop is taking on that Red/Green look.  This year we will be offering gift baskets to add to your gift giving options.  We plan to offer a Christmas Breakfast in bed basket, a chocolate lovers basket, and a snack and dip type basket as well.  Check our shopping cart near the beginning of December for a list of basket contents and prices.  As always, these gift baskets will include free local delivery. We will also have a gift option for the dogs in our lives, if you so choose.

 

October 30, 2009.

Construction continues at Lake Country Flowers.  The crew is doing a lovely job.... but, access to the flowershop is not always clear.  Please keep in mind.... you can shop via the phone or internet, and take advantage of our free local delivery. 

October 20, 2009.  This past Thursday evening, we had a lovely dinner and reception at the Gray Monk Estate Winery.  This was the location for this years Chamber of Commerce Excellence in Business Awards.

With great pride, Lake Country Flowers received this years award for creativity in business.  Thanks for the nomination and recognition.
